The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is Austria's highest situated pass road and is considered the most beautiful panoramic road in Europe. It is under preservation order and should become a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was open in August 1935 and has annually about 900,000 guests from all over the world. It leads into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park and to the foot of the highest mountain in Austria, the 3,798m high Grossglockner.
