Citizens of the Fili region of Athens clashed in Athens with riot policemen in an effort to stop goverments plans to oprivatise the garbage collection site in Fili.

The general fear, expressed through the protestors, is that the privatisation will worsen the low level of security and environmental treatment by the industry.
There is also the fear that the citizens will be forced to pay increased fees in order to have their garbage collected. People are objecting to the governmental plans, due to the existence of the deep economic crisis. They call politicians "traitors," as well as the selfish people that sell out the public property for their own financial gain.
